Milestones:
Our annual trip to Trinidad and Tobago
extended from Jan 31st to Feb 14th. There was a whole host of
sounds, tastes and textures that Mori experienced in a way that I
know was very unique to her. Hopefully these have all started to
build her understanding of Trinidadian culture. She found the music
in almost everything... from the infectious calypso to the rhythmic
sound of the washing machine... and when there was music, she
danced.
New sounds: Birds constantly chirping,
steel pan and calypso (on the big truck), mosquitoes buzzing in your
ears, sound of the ocean
New textures/feels: the sand beneath
your feet, the waves rushing in and the water touching your toes,
leaves and trees of every dimension, hot asphalt under your bare
feet (amazingly hot).
New tastes: coconut water, cassava,
patchoi, sea water
Old tastes: a new found love of corn
and baked beans!
Here comes the waaa-ave, rubber ducky you're the one, ride the
escalator
Playing hide and seek (without the seeking part), says want some
more when she hasn't had any yet, LOVES to colour, everything looks
better in
blue (when asked the colour of anything, the appropriate response is
blue), randomly uses in/out and on/off, when she doesn't know the
answer to
"what's this?" the best response is "daddy"... even if it's an
orange triangle.
